The BBRC participates in the annual meeting of the International Neuropsychological Society

The BarcelonaBeta Brain Research Center (BBRC) has had a prominent participation in the annual meeting of the International Neuropsychological Society (INS 2022). The conference, held this year in Barcelona from 6 to 8 July, has revolved around the theme "Global Innovations in Science and Practice" with the aim of encouraging dialogue between different cultures and ways of approaching scientific research everywhere in the world.

This edition has hosted three oral presentations by researchers from the research center of the Pasqual Maragall Foundation:

• Dr. Eider Arenaza-Urquijo, researcher at the Clinical Research Group and in Risk Factors for Neurodegenerative Diseases, presented the oral 'Resilience and resistance toAlzheimer's disease: mental health and lifestyle in people at increased risk for cognitive decline', within the symposium “Brain Resilience and Maintenance in Advanced Age: Mechanisms and Study Frameworks”.
• Dr. Gonzalo Sánchez-Benavides, neuropsychologist and researcher at the Clinical Research Group and in Risk Factors for Neurodegenerative Diseases, gave the presentation 'Discrepancy Between Visual and Verbal Working Memory is Related to PTau217 in abnormal Amyloid-β Individuals', framed in the session “Cognition, biomarkers     and dementia”.
• In the same session, Dr. Anna Brugulat, a neuropsychologist and postdoctoral researcher in the Neuroimaging Research Group, gave the talk "Favorite test is associated with amyloid and p-tau181 positivity in cognitively unimpaired individuals.”

In addition to the oral presentations, the BBRC also contributed to INS 2020 with four posters:

• “Extended Spanish and Catalan Normative data of the Memory Binding Test in 2741 Volunteers from the ALFA Study”, by data entry and neuropsychologist Lídia Canals Gispert, along with Dr. Sánchez-Benavides. 
• “Differential Effect of Executive Function on the Memory Binding Test and Logical Memory in Healthy Cognition”, by neuropsychologist Alba Cañas-Martínez, together with Dr. Sánchez-Benavides.
• “Physical Activity During Midlife: Associations with Brain, Mental and Cognitive Health”, presented by Pre-doctoral researcher Müge Akinci.
• “The Association of Stressful Life Events with Alzheimer's Disease Biomarkers and Brain Integrity", by Pre-doctoral researcher Eleni Palpatzis.

The INS meeting was co-organized by the Consortium of Clinical Neuropsychology and the Federation of Spanish Neuropsychology Associations (FANPSE). The full conference schedule can be viewed here.
