BBRC takes part in AAIC 2026 with its largest representation to date
The centre’s research staff will present 7 talks and 25 scientific posters at the world’s largest Alzheimer’s conference
From 12 to 15 July, London will host a new edition of the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference (AAIC), the world’s leading forum for Alzheimer’s and dementia research. As in previous years, the Barcelonaβeta Brain Research Center (BBRC) will be present with a strong scientific contribution: 32 contributions in total, marking the centre’s strongest presence at this conference to date.
A total of 31 BBRC researchers will present their work at this new edition of AAIC. BBRC’s participation will begin ahead of the main conference, with 2 workshops during the preconference programme on 10 and 11 July.
In total, BBRC will present 7 oral presentations and 25 posters covering different lines of research, with a particular focus on Alzheimer’s prevention in the preclinical stages, biomarkers, and advances generated through data from the ALFA study and other centre projects. Notably, this year the Pasqual Maragall Foundation will take part in AAIC for the first time, with 5 posters, bringing the total number of contributions from both institutions to 37.
AAIC is also introducing a new feature to its programme: AAIC for All, a free and open event that will take place on 16 July with the aim of bringing scientific advances closer to clinical professionals. Dr Marc Suárez-Calvet, BBRC principal investigator, was a member of the Scientific Programme Committee (SPC) that helped shape this new initiative and will give a talk in the session AAIC for All: clinicians, focused on clinical practice.
“AAIC for All: Clinicians is an initiative that I find particularly valuable, because it builds a bridge between basic research and clinical practice. Scientific knowledge only has a real impact when it reaches the professionals who work directly with patients,” explains Dr Marc Suárez-Calvet, leader of the Fluid Biomarkers and Translational Neurology research group.
Through this participation, BBRC once again consolidates its position as a European leader in Alzheimer’s research, strengthening its role in the conference that, each year, sets the pace for international progress in this field.
