The ASTRO-PET project aims to develop and clinically validate a PET tracer to study neuroinflammation in Alzheimer's disease, a key process that contributes to the progression of the pathology. This tracer will allow for more accurate observation of the activity of astrocytes, brain cells involved in the inflammatory response.

The project aims to resolve the challenges that have historically limited the imaging of neuroinflammation. With this new tracer, the international ASTRO-PET initiative seeks to improve understanding of the role of neuroinflammation in Alzheimer's disease.

In the long term, the project may facilitate earlier detection, better monitoring of the disease, and the evaluation of new treatments targeting inflammatory mechanisms.
