Investigating is expensive. Very expensive. But more expensive is the scope of a disease such as Alzheimer's, which still has no cure, nor do we know how to slow down. Its consequences not only are suffered by the affected person, but also their family and the whole of the society.

In Spain, dementias cost 60 million euros a day, with an estimated annual cost of € 27,000 per patient, which is mostly assumed by the family. At these economic costs must be added the personal costs, which are incalculable.

At the Barcelonaβeta Brain Research Center we investigate to overcome this disease. And we do it thanks to the projects we win in competitive national and international research calls, and to the tireless work of the Pasqual Maragall Foundation to raise funds to accelerate research.

With your help, whether you are individual or a company, you can contribute to the advancement of science to prevent Alzheimer's disease. Meanwhile, until we get it, you can also help us take care of family caregivers.

These are some of the examples of what we can do with your contribution:

If we fail to prevent the disease, in 2050 there will be the triple of people affected by Alzheimer's disease worldwide, due to the increase in life expectancy and the lack of effective treatment.

Science is the only way out to win this battle. Only with everyone's help can we accelerate research and change, forever, the history of Alzheimer’s.
