The Barcelonaβeta Brain Research Center (BBRC) and the Pasqual Maragall Foundation have published the 2019 Annual Report; a compilation with the most outstanding information on the scientific, social and economic activity of the two entities.
In 2019, more than 2,000 visits were made to the participants of the different scientific projects of the BBRC Alzheimer's Prevention Program, more than 21,000 biological samples were processed, and more than 1,000 acquisitions were made in the MRI. The Foundation also continued to offer support to affected families, through 17 therapeutic groups led in different Spanish cities, awareness campaigns and the creation of informative dissemination and awareness content to change the social perception of Alzheimer's.
All this work was possible thanks to the competitive projects obtained, and to the regular contributions of the more than 33,000 active members of the Foundation, of the companies of the patronage council chaired by the "la Caixa" Foundation, of donations of more than 2,000 individuals, and more than 200 solidarity initiatives held during the year. In the economic section of the Report, you can consult the summary of income and expenses of the Foundation and the BBRC, which are subject to an annual audit of accounts.
Dr. Jordi Camí, former director of the Pasqual Maragall Foundation and member of the Board of Trustees, stars in the document for the last time, highlighting that 2019 was a year of growth and consolidation of many projects, and taking stock of his experience at the forefront of the Foundation until February 2020: "I have been fortunate to head this entity from the beginning and contribute to making it grow to where it is now. It has been an extraordinary adventure from which I also take enriching experiences and learning."
Dr. Jordi Camí's greeting can be found in the full version of the 2019 Report (in PDF), which this year is built around the entity's strategic values: determination, credibility, transformation, connection and trust.
As a novelty, this year you can also consult a digital summary of the Report that allows you to navigate through the main milestones and actions of the year.
