Gonzalo Sánchez-Benavides receives the Miguel Servet scholarship

Gonzalo Sánchez-Benavides, researcher at the Barcelonaβeta Brain Research Center (BBRC), research center of the Pasqual Maragall Foundation, and at the Hospital del Mar Research Institute - IMIM, has received a Miguel Servet 2022 scholarship, granted by the Carlos III Health Institute. It is an annual grant of 40,500 euros over a period of five years, which will be used to finance the researcher's contract, together with an additional grant of 40,000 euros, intended to cover expenses directly related to the execution of the research.

The scholarship is a recognition of the scientific career of Dr. Sánchez-Benavides and will allow him to advance his research on the early detection of cognitive changes in the preclinical phase of Alzheimer's disease. The aim of this line of research is to improve cognitive assessment techniques to detect subtle changes, and to evaluate the use of digital biomarkers to remotely monitor cognitive abilities.

Gonzalo Sánchez-Benavides, PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), works as a researcher in the Clinical Research Group and in Risk Factors for Neurodegenerative Diseases, led by Dr. Oriol Grau, and is responsible for cognitive assessment procedures in BBRC projects. He is also a professor in the Master's in Neuropsychology at the UAB.

The Miguel Servet scholarship awarded to Dr. Sánchez-Benavides, with code CP23/00039, is funded by the Carlos III Health Institute (ISCIII) and co-financed by the European Union (FSE+).
