In response to the social and scientific challenges that Alzheimer's presents in society, the Pasqual Maragall Foundation has designed a Strategic Plan that will allow us to continue taking firm steps towards a future without Alzheimer's.
The Barcelonaβeta Brain Research Center (BBRC), a research center of the Pasqual Maragall Foundation, has its own strategic plan approved in 2022 and valid until 2026. Both plans aim to guide the growth and adaptation of entities to new scientific and social challenges.
After more than fifteen years since we assumed this commitment, what began as a visionary project has been consolidated as a professional and leading entity, where we have more than 250 dedicated professionals, offering support to more than 1,500 families throughout Spain and developing reference research projects with the participation of more than 3,000 people. This extended collaboration includes internationally renowned institutions, with the aim of advancing science in this field.
The new Strategic Plan is designed to position the Foundation and face the current challenges related to Alzheimer's disease. Our main objectives include the generation and promotion of relevant science, as well as the transformation of the social-health system through the application of our scientific discoveries. To achieve these objectives, we will focus on three fundamental pillars: attracting and retaining talent, sustainable growth and promoting a solid, agile and inclusive organizational culture.
We have defined specific objectives within this framework, which include the implementation of early diagnosis and treatment protocols for Alzheimer's, raising the profile of the disease as a political and institutional priority in Spain, improving care for caregivers, attracting national and international talent, optimizing the use of economic resources, and structuring an organization that facilitates better coordination between its members, among others.
