The SCAP-AD (Cognitive Screening and Personalised Approach for Alzheimer's and other Dementias) project is designed to validate new ultrasensitive diagnosis methods for the early detection of Alzheimer's disease, applying precision medicine strategies to improve diagnosis and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.

This project is led by the CIEN (Neurological Diseases Research Centre) Foundation and involves 8 state research centres, including the Barcelonaβeta Brain Research Centre.

The BBRC (Barcelonaβeta Brain Research Centre) has a key role in coordinating the neuroimaging work of the participating centres, managing collection, filing, processing, and quality control of the magnetic resonance images acquired for the participating centres.

Furthermore, the project will create two large population cohorts, composed of individuals without dementia, and above 60 years old:

   1. Digital cohort, which allows exploring the use of an online cognitive assessment on a web platform.
   2. Clinical validation cohort, which will be used to validate new diagnosis methods in a healthcare environment.

With SCAP-AD, we advance towards a more accurate diagnosis of Alzheimer’s, which is already available, contributing to improving early detection and patient care.
