The BBRC, participating center in a new clinical trial

The Barcelonaβeta Brain Research Center (BBRC) is one of the centers participating in the new international study Skyline. The research center of the Pasqual Maragall Foundation is the first active center –with an ongoing trial- in Spain and the second in Europe. The recruitment process has already started, and the first visit to the BBRC took place at the end April.

The Phase III, double-blind, placebo-controlled study plans to enroll 1.200 participants worldwide to assess a new treatment against Alzheimer’s disease. For this reason, an analysis will be carried out to test the efficacy of the molecule under study in improving cognitive performance.

The participants of this clinical trial, which is expected to last four years, will be cognitively-healthy people, who will undergo either a PET scan or a lumbar puncture. In addition, other tests established in the BBRC trial protocol will be carried out, such as cognitive tests or magnetic resonance imaging.
