We share the Strategic Plan of the Pasqual Maragall Foundation 2020-2025

Faced with the new social and scientific challenges of the coming years, the Pasqual Maragall Foundation and its research center, the Barcelonaβeta Brain Research Center (BBRC), have developed their own strategic plans to be able to continue making steady progress towards a future without Alzheimer's. More than ten years after taking on this commitment, what began as a visionary project has become a professional and leading entity, which has supported more than 1,000 families from all over Spain, which carries out research projects with more than 3,000 participants, collaborating with institutions around the world and employing more than 150 people. In this context, the Foundation and the BBRC have worked on strategic plans to set more ambitious future goals and to define the mechanisms for achieving them.

The Strategic Plan of the Pasqual Maragall Foundation, approved in 2020 with a planned validity of four years, has extended its application for another two years, until 2025, due to the social and economic paralysis experienced as a result of the Covid pandemic. 19. The organization’s roadmap is based on four axes: promoting potentially relevant scientific research, growing sustainably, increasing our impact on society and adapting the organization.

In relation to each of these pillars, the Foundation aspires to consolidate intramural scientific activity and develop new extramural support actions, to be the main private entity that supports scientific research in Spain on Alzheimer's and related diseases, to lead the change in the social consideration of the disease and provide the organization with the necessary agility to meet current strategic challenges. The full contents of the plan can be consulted at this link.

On the other hand, the Barcelonaβeta Brain Research Center Strategic Plan will be launched this year. The document will include the basics of current and future research at the research center, which will give a prominent role to the cohort of study participants. It will also specify the need to generate new and powerful strategic alliances in parallel with strengthening one's own research.
