Ms. Glòria Oliver has been appointed Deputy General Director after having been the Manager of the entity since its creation, and the current Director of Scientific Infrastructures, Dr. Josep Maria Argimon, has been appointed the new Director of Relations with the Healthcare System to strengthen this key axis.
Both appointments strengthen the management bodies of the Pasqual Maragall Foundation and its research center, the Barcelonaβeta Brain Research Center (BBRC), to face the current moment of expansion and growth and adapt to the current social and research environment.
Glòria Oliver has been appointed Deputy General Director of the Pasqual Maragall Foundation, thus strengthening the management bodies of the entity chaired by Cristina Maragall and directed by Dr. Arcadi Navarro. Oliver has been the manager of the Foundation and the Barcelonaβeta Brain Research Center since the beginning of the two entities and has contributed to the growth of both foundations thanks to her great management work for more than fifteen years.
Oliver has a degree in Economics from the Pompeu Fabra University, a Master's Degree in Taxation (Centro de Estudios Financieros, 1999) and a Master's Degree in Management and Leadership of Science (Barcelona School of Management-UPF, 2008). In addition, she was awarded a scholarship in the first edition of the Executive Program for Women in Senior Management of the Promociona Project (2013-2014) taught by ESADE.
Currently, apart from her responsibility at the Pasqual Maragall Foundation, she is President of the Spanish Association of Fundraising (AEFr) and First Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Catalan Coordinator of Foundations (CCF). She is also a member of the Social Council of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC). She is also co-founder of the Spanish Association of Executives and Directors (EJE&CON), an entity whose mission is to promote the presence of women in senior management positions and boards of directors.
Furthermore, Dr. Josep Maria Argimon, Director of the Scientific Infrastructure Unit of the BBRC since 2022, has been appointed as the new Director of Relations with the Health System of the Pasqual Maragall Foundation and the Barcelonaβeta Brain Research Center, with the aim of promoting this key axis of both entities, leading the strategy of current and future alliances with other relevant institutions and centers.
Josep Maria Argimon has a degree in Medicine and a PhD from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). He is a specialist in preventive medicine and public health, with a diploma in epidemiology and statistics from the Université Pierre et Marie Curie Paris, a master's degree in epidemiology and health planning from the University of Wales and a master's degree in Evidence-Based Medicine from the University of Oxford.
In his extensive career, he has been Health Minister of the Generalitat of Catalonia between 2021 and 2022 and has held different positions in the Catalan Health Service, including Director of the Agency for Health Quality and Assessment of Catalonia (AQuAS) and Director of the Catalan Health Institute. He has also been an international consultant in Latin America for the European Union and has experience in teaching at different universities.
