On March 27, we hosted ad the Barcelonaβeta Brain Research Center the second session of the HUB Alzheimer Barcelona scientific series, a collaborative initiative bringing together leading research centres and hospitals in the field of Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.
The session was attended by over 60 people in person and more than 20 participants online. This bimonthly cycle, rotating among the HUB’s member institutions, aims to share knowledge, strengthen synergies, and showcase emerging research talent.
On this occasion, the session focused on fluid biomarkers, which are essential for advancing early detection, diagnosis, and monitoring of Alzheimer’s. During the event, researchers from the different institutions forming the HUB —Ace Alzheimer Center Barcelona, our research center, the Barcelonaβeta Brain Research Center (BBRC), Hospital Clínic, Hospital del Mar, Hospital de Sant Pau and Hospital Universitari Vall d'Hebron— shared their most recent work in this field.
The session was moderated by Dr Marc Suárez-Calvet, leader of the Fluid Biomarkers and Translational Neurology Research Group at BBRC, and concluded with a discussion highlighting the collaborative spirit of the initiative. The day ended with a networking session and a tour of our facilities.
The next session of the cycle will take place on June 12th at the Hospital Clínic and will be dedicated to the social and environmental determinants in Alzheimer's research.
