We investigate, we move forward: the 2025 Impact Report is now available

From the Pasqual Maragall Foundation and our research center, the Barcelonaβeta Brain Research Center (BBRC), we published the Impact Report 2025, a compilation of the main milestones of the past year, which demonstrate our commitment, and that of more than 110,000 members, with research to prevent Alzheimer's, support for affected individuals and families, and social and scientific outreach to change the perception of the disease in our society.

We continue to invest in research and social awareness

This year, 2025, has been characterised by significant scientific progress, such as the validation of a biomarker which allows the detection of Alzheimer's with an accuracy of 90% from a blood test, or the implementation of ALFA10 project, which aims to identify individuals at high risk of developing the disease using a predictive algorithm, among others. In addition, we have established two new research groups: one dedicated to studying the biological mechanisms that explain why Alzheimer’s disease and other age-related conditions develop and how they progress, and another that works with brain organoids to investigate the cellular mechanisms driving neurodegeneration. Furthermore, we have participated in leading international conferences such as the Alzheimer's Association International Conference (AAIC) and the Alzheimer & Parkinson Disease Conference (ADPD).

In the social and educational field, the Pasqual Maragall Foundation carried out more than 50 talks throughout the territory and broke attendance records in the new edition of Brain Film Fest. This year the Foundation also started Plenamente activas, a new therapeutic programme aimed at people with early-stage Alzheimer's. At the same time, the Foundation brought to the Parliament of Catalonia the need to address this disease as a public health priority.

All of this has been made possible thanks to the continued support of more than 110,000 members, donors, patrons, collaborating companies, and study participants who join us year after year. In gratitude, we have created the Capsule of Memories: a space where everyone can deposit their most precious moments until its opening in 2038.
