The BBRC participates in the 20th edition of AD/PD

The Barcelonaβeta Brain Research Center (BBRC), the research centre of the Pasqual Maragall Foundation, has participated once again in the AD/PD 2026 International Conference on Alzheimer's and Parkinson's Diseases, one of the most prominent gatherings in the field of neurodegenerative disease research. Our researchers have presented their latest findings through oral presentations and posters.

This edition brought together the international neuroscience community at the Bella Center in Copenhagen, Denmark, from 17 to 20 March 2026. The conference focused on the latest advances in treatment, translational research, early diagnosis, drug development, and clinical trials for Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and other related neurological disorders.

The BBRC has been represented with four oral presentations and two posters, reflecting the centre's broad research agenda spanning biomarkers, proteomics, neuroimaging, and women's brain health.

Prior to the event, Dr. Natàlia Vilor-Tejedor, participated in the AlzInsights Summit side event with a panel discussion entitled “From Data to Insights on Sex/Gender Differences in AD Risk”.

Oral presentations

  • Federica Anastasi, postdoctoral researcher, presented the talk "CSF proteomic signatures predicting acceleration of cognitive decline in Alzheimer's disease dementia depend on tau status".
  • Marta del Campo, Head of the bluid Biomarkers Facility, chaired the session “Molecular drivers of neurodegenerative disorders” and also, gave an oral presentation entitled "Plasma proteome profiling identified biomarkers for the differential diagnosis and molecular staging of neurodegenerative dementias".
  • Maria Pujol-Torrens, PhD Student, presented the talk "Dissociable network-based mechanisms underlie cognitive resilience in aging and preclinical Alzheimer's disease".
  • Clara Gallay, PhD Student, presented the talk "Parity interacts with amyloid status to influence hippocampal volume and cognition in postmenopausal women at risk of Alzheimer's disease".

Posters

  • Anna Coward, PhD Student, presented the poster "Biomarkers of neurodegeneration predict cognitive decline in preclinical Alzheimer's disease".
  • Felipe Hernández Villamizar, PhD Student, presented the poster “Sex and amyloid status modify the association between serum α-klotho and ad-fluid biomarkers”

The BBRC's commitment to global neuroscience

The AD/PD conference is one of the key meeting points for the international neuroscience community, and the BBRC's recurring presence reflects its active role in this global scientific conversation. Beyond presenting their own work, our researchers engage with the latest developments in the field, exchange ideas with leading experts, and build the collaborations that drive Alzheimer's research forward.
