We participate once again in the AD/PD 2025

The Barcelonaβeta Brain Research Center (BBRC), the research center of the Pasqual Maragall Foundation, has participated one more in the AD/PD 2025 International Conference on Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Diseases, an important event for advancing research on neurodegenerative diseases. Our researchers have presented their latest findings through oral presentations, posters, and on-demand talks.

This edition has hosted four oral presentations, 2 posters & on demand talks, and Dr. Natàlia Vilor-Tejedor, researcher and leader of the Genetic Neuroepidemiology and Biostatistics team, has participated in the AlzInsights Summit, a side event of the AD/PD 2025, with a flash talk about “Leveraging AD Workbench for New Breakthrough”.

The 19th edition of the ADPD “Advances in Science & Therapy” was held in Vienna on 1-5 April. This year the conference focused on the latest breakthroughs in treatment, translational research, early diagnosis, drug development, and clinical trials for Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and other related neurological disorders. The event brought together leading medical and scientific professionals from around the world to share insights and advancements in these fields.

Oral presentations

  • Natàlia Vilor-Tejedor, researcher and leader of the Genetic Neuroepidemiology and Biostatistics team, presented the talk “Air pollution is linked to lower brain volumes in AD-susceptible individuals via lipoprotein, cholesterol, and inflammatory genetic mechanisms
  • Patricia Genius, predoctoral researcher at the center, presented the talk  “Distinct risk profiles drive white matter hyperintensities progression and predict cognitive decline in asymptomatic individuals
  • Federica Anastasi, postdoctoral researcher, presented the talk  “Multiplatform proteomics unveils global and sex-specific plasma markers for predicting cognitive outcomes in individuals at risk of Alzheimer’s disease”.
  • Andrea Martí-Sarrias, predoctoral researcher, presented the talk “Exploring the neurodegenerative impact of SARS-CoV-2 infection on Alzheimer’s disease-brain organoids

Posters and on-demand talks

  • Armand González, predoctoral researcher presented the poster “Plasma p-tau217 predicts cognitive decline in preclinical Alzheimer's disease: a 7-year longitudinal study”
  • José Contador, postdoctoral researcher and neurologist, presented the poster  “Plasma and CSF biomarkers in subjective cognitive decline: The BBRC Alzheimer at-risk (β-AARC) cohort”

Advancing research in neurodegeneration

BBRC’s presence at AD/PD 2025 highlights its ongoing commitment to Alzheimer’s and neuroscience research. Several members of the BBRC team attended this year’s edition to engage in networking, exchange knowledge with international experts, and stay up to date with the latest advancements in neurodegenerative disease research. Their participation reinforces BBRC’s dedication to building collaborations and incorporating the latest research into our ongoing projects. By working alongside leading experts, BBRC continues to advance progress in prevention, early detection, understanding disease mechanisms and developing potential therapeutic strategies for Alzheimer's disease.
